Being one of the most advanced RTS (real
time strategy) games, starcraft 2 is the most successful game ever made,
having reached 3-4 million purchases on day one in Korea, plus the 1.8
million bought in North America, South America, and Europe. That's
4.8-5.8 purchases in the first day of release. Each copy was at
least 60 dollars. That's 288 million to 348 million dollars made
on day one. This revolutionary game has a very interesting
history. The first starcraft game was released in 1998, and it's
sequel (starcraft brood war) was released almost immediately after
because of the huge success, in 1999. After having 2 huge
successes in the gaming market, Blizzard found themselves in a position
where their fans were wanting a game that was simply out of Blizzards
reach in 1999. Blizzard still tried to make another sequel,
Starcraft Ghost, and struggled. The game was originally set to be
released in 2003, but the date had to be moved over to 2005. In
2005, Blizzard found they shouldn't make Starcraft Ghost and they should
make a new starcraft game with new technology. They cancelled
Starcraft Ghost, and that's is when they started making Starcraft 2.
They needed a name to describe the game, and in the end they picked
Starcraft 2, Wings of Liberty. This game was released on July 27,
2010. Former starcraft fans forgot about Starcraft, and when they
heard that Blizzard had made a new Starcraft game 11 years after their
previous game, people went crazy for the new game. That is the
reason for Blizzard making so much money, other than the fact that the
game was the best in it's time. Blizzard has made yet another
sequel to this, known as Starcraft HOTS, or Heart of the Swarm. But this
review is going to be about the game before HOTS, Wings of
liberty. After going over Starcraft's history, we are going to
start talking about the actual gameplay of Starcraft.
The first decision you have to make as a Starcraft gamer
is what race you are going to play as. The three races are
Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. Each race has their own strategy.
I will be talking about each rae
